The German-American school partnership project with the Elite-Highschool Governor School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) in Hartsville (South Carolina), which began in summer 2009 with the first student exchange, is entitled “Research Exchange Scholars Program”.
The focus of this project is on a six-week stay for the selected students at a research institution in the host country. The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg and the University of South Carolina in Columbia have taken over the supervision of these research internships. Three American students will return to Pforzheim in June and July 2019 to work at the DKFZ. In August and September 2019, the return visit of three students from the Johanna Wittum School at the GSSM in the USA will take place.
